Blindness affects 36 million people worldwide.
It causes a lack of independence, partially regarding navigation of the environment. Canes cannot detect moving or hanging obstacles and guide dogs require pet care.
How can we make blind navigation easy and discreet?
Our concepts focused on incorporating sensor tracking into a navigation device.
Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) detects the 3D environment in a similar way as echolocation. In Spectos, it is used to quickly and precisely receive information about environmental obstacles.
Spectos is integrated with an app that provides walking directions that are easy for a blind person to follow.
